In 2001, TL Marshall Company released the Crafter's Hot Knife to meet the needs of the hobby & craft markets. Since its premier, the Crafter's Hot Knife has been sold all over the world.
"The Crafter's Hot Knife brings a new dimension to the modeler's table for carving many types of foam. The knife makes plunge cuts into blocks and shapes possible. Bow cutters cannot make the plunge cuts. The maneuverability of the knife is superior to anything else that I have found on the market," says Miles Hale, Master Model Railroader, Vice President Association of Professional Model Makers.
The most distinguishing difference of The Crafters Hot Knife is the rigid and solid, 6" Stainless Steel blade. It slices quickly and cleanly through high-density foam without bending, warping or breaking like common wire cutters. A retro, easy grip, wooden handle beautifully accents the Stainless Steel blade. Temperature is controlled by the user with a "dead man's switch" that delivers the power up to 750 degrees fahrenheit temperatures. This light/medium duty tool will shut down to cool instead of burning out after 5-10 minutes of continual use. The user can extend the operating time once familiar with the power switch operations.

heavy duty, PRO-1 Hot Knife for foam cutting. This tool features a 5-1/2" Stainless Steel Blade and comes with a depth gauge/stand. This single blade construction knife without detachable blades won't shut down to cool and offers three temperature settings. Now available in 220/240 volt.

The Original Hot Knife is limited-time-use tool. To avoid overheating and damaging the tool, use for
five minutes on and then rest for three minutes. Once heated to the proper cutting temperature, depress
the trigger for 15 seconds, then release the trigger for 15 seconds. Continue this cycle for a maximum of
5 minutes. Then let the tool rest for 2-1/2 minutes. Using the tool longer than 5 minutes at a time will cause
heat damage and is not covered by the warranty. Do not use a screwdriver to tighten the blade screws.

The PRO-1 Hot Knife has a duty cycle for 15 minutes prior to needing a 3 minute rest.
